Yeah, Antichrist was awesome. Inception. Coming out of the theater, I was like 'Man, there wasn't really any bad guy in this movie. Odd.' My brother was like 'Saito. And everybody. Capitalist scum, the whole lot of them.' pretty much. Funnish. |

What makes you say she doesn't exist? Clearly she existed at some point in the narrative. It was only because of Cobb's inception that she killed herself in the real world and went on to only exist in Cobb's subconscious. If the film has a villain, it's either Saito, using Jedi mind tricks on a rival corporate big fish to sabotage his company, or Cobb himself, simply because he acts on Saito's wishes and does things that 'are not strictly speaking legal'. He even drags others into it. I love thinking about Inception and about how it all fits together. If you ask me, the entire film is a dream sequence. Even when Cobb is in the real world, it appears to me he is still dreaming. What with his totem spinning at the end, him being chased around by faceless goons of the Cobol Corporation and every character telling him to 'wake up'. It's the only possible explanation I can come up with. |

Gratz! I'm definitely going for a second viewing now! ![]() Saw The Sorcerer's Apprentice yesterday. Nicholas Cage was alright, I definitely have a soft spot for him, but the rest of the cast just wasn't all that. I mean, why have Monica Belucci in your movie if you're only going to give her two minutes of screen time? And why is Alfred Molina chewing up scenery ALL the time? Oh well. Two out of five. Completely forgettable. Wait.. what film did I see again? |

Just watched The Soloist, and cried like a bitch most of the way through, though really don't know why. ?????? Guess it hit home with the schizoprenia bit, since my uncle has it, and it's a terrible thing. I love my uncle, and he's awesome most of the time, but still there is a bit of lingering fear in the back of my mind. Or I'm just a wuss. Last edited by Orcus; 08-13-2010 at 05:21 PM. |

Just rewatched The Odyssey, a 1997 tv film inspired by Homer's epic of the same name. It's a fairly faithful adaptation, beautifully filmed on location with an understated visual style and surprisingly good special effects. The 3-hour long film tells the tales of Odysseus, king of Ithaca, who longs to return home to his wife Penelope after the Greeks have conquered Troy. His cunning won the Greeks the war, but for his arrogance he is punished by Poseidon, god of the seas, and sentenced to a fate worse than death; to forever roam the seas and never see his beloved again. If you have any interest in Greek mythology at all and haven't yet seen this film, make sure you do. It's no big-budget Hollywood production, but it's a fantastically rewarding sit. I could watch and rewatch this over and over and never tire of it. |
